The Good News

The “Good News” you may have heard referred to as the “Gospel” of Jesus Christ

What is the Gospel? What does it mean to be unsaved? How can you go to Heaven someday? What's all this "Born Again" stuff about?

Very briefly, the “Gospel” is this: All of mankind has sinned (yes, even “good” people); they are born with it! The only way to cover that sin was through the sacrifice of a perfect, sinless man. That man was Jesus, when He left the wonders of heaven to come to this earth for one purpose: to offer salvation to mankind. The Bible tells us that Jesus is God himself. Jesus actually said, “If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father.” The bible teaches these basic facts: that Jesus was born of a virgin, died on the cross, and rose from death. It also teaches that those who accept these facts and believe them will go to heaven to live with Him forever. Those who reject Him will spend forever in Hell. So, to be "unsaved" means you have not trusted Jesus as your Savior; and to be “born again” means that you’ve accepted, by faith what the Bible says is true about Jesus. The Gospel message is not a religion; it is a spiritual truth. Jesus Himself said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Why do you need a Savior?

Shouldn’t all good people go to Heaven? The answer is definitely NO! God rejects people's attempts to work their way to Heaven and not all people who call themselves Christians are true believers. They might be fairly moral, give to charity, and go to church. They may even have been born into a Christian family, tithe 10% or more of their income, and volunteer in the community, but that is NO guarantee of Heaven. The bible tells us that many will profess to have done many things for God, but He will not acknowledge them, because they did not accept Jesus as their savior. It’s not something you can accomplish by doing good things. The bible also says “By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Free Will

God has given every one of us a free will. We are the ones who choose where we spend eternity. God has not picked out a "chosen" few for Heaven or made it difficult to comprehend his plan of salvation so some miss out. The Gospel is simple enough for a child to understand. He invites us to accept Him and the free gift he offers us so we can go to Heaven. The alternative is to reject Him and go to Hell. After reading the following Gospel message, whatever you decide, it will be a life-changing decision:

Are you 100% sure you will go to Heaven when you die? Perhaps you just hope or think you might or, perhaps you now realize you do not want an eternity without Jesus and want to get help. The Bible says you can know for sure that you can go to Heaven. "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may know ye have eternal life." 1 John 5:13
You need to realize because of sin each of us deserves God's punishment in Hell. There are certain things the bible says which tell us this: Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," and Romans 5:8, "While we were yet sinners Christ died for us."

Realize that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. John 14:6, Jesus said unto him, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, but by me." Many will say they believe in God, but only those who believe and accept the things Jesus did will enter into heaven.

In “accepting” Jesus it means you understand He died in your place to cover your sins forever, and that He rose from the dead. Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved." Calling upon the name of the Lord means to place full confidence in what God says. It was for our sins that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, left Heaven and gave up His life that we might be forgiven. You must believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son, that He rose again, and that His precious blood has paid the debt of your sins. You must trust Jesus to save you. You cannot put your trust in a religion, in good works, or in yourself.

If you are ready to accept God's free gift of Heaven, pray the way millions have done through the ages: "Lord, I know I am a sinner, and that my sin will send me to Hell. I know I can obtain Heaven no other way but through Jesus Christ. I now ask You to forgive my sins and be my Savior. Thank you Lord for saving my soul! Amen."

Spiritual Growth

The Bible tells us that once you accept this gospel message you become a new creation. Old things you used to do which do not please God will no longer be of interest to you. New things will take their place. Surrendering your heart to Jesus Christ will give you a desire to pray, read your Bible daily, and meet with people of like Christian faith. The Holy Spirit will start a life-long work of transformation in your life so that you will begin to do works and deeds that are pleasing to God. God will mold and shape your character as you live to serve Him day by day.
