Why do you need a Savior?
Doesn't everyone go to Heaven? Surely all good people do.
The Bible teaches us, “By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” Eph. 2:8-9. Eternal life is not something you can earn. The Bible tells us that many will profess to have done many things for God, but He will not acknowledge them, because they did not accept Jesus as their Savior.
Free Will
God has given every one of us a free will. We are the ones who choose where we spend eternity. God has not picked out a "chosen" few for Heaven, or made it difficult to comprehend His plan of salvation so some miss out. The Gospel is simple enough for a child to understand. He invites us to accept Him and the free gift He offers us so we can go to Heaven. The alternative is to reject Him and go to Hell. After reading the following Gospel message, whatever you decide, it will be a life-changing decision:
Are you 100% sure you will go to Heaven when you die? Perhaps you just hope or think you might. The Bible says you can know for sure that you can go to Heaven. "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may know ye have eternal life." 1 John 5:13 |
You need to realize that because of sin, each of us deserves God's punishment in Hell. There are certain things the Bible says which tell us this: Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," and Romans 5:8, "While we were yet sinners Christ died for us." |

Realize that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. John 14:6, Jesus said unto him, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me." Many will say they believe in God, but only those who believe and accept the things Jesus did will enter into Heaven. |
In “accepting” Jesus it means you understand He died in your place to cover your sins forever, and that He rose from the dead. Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved. " Calling upon the name of the Lord means to place full confidence in what God says. It was for our sins that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, left Heaven and gave up His life that we might be forgiven. You must believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son, that He rose again, and that His precious blood has paid the debt of your sins. You must trust Jesus to save you. You cannot put your trust in a religion, in good works, or in yourself.
If you are ready to accept that Jesus paid the debt for your sins that you, yourself, could never pay, then pray a prayer similar to this : "Lord, I know I am a sinner. I know I can obtain Heaven no other way but through Jesus Christ. I now ask You to forgive my sins and be my Savior. Thank you Lord for forever forgiveness! Amen." |
Spiritual Growth
The Bible tells us that once you accept this gospel message you become a new creation. Old things you used to do which do not please God will no longer be of interest to you. New things will take their place. Surrendering your heart to Jesus Christ will give you a desire to pray, read your Bible daily, and meet with people of like Christian faith. The Holy Spirit will start a life-long work of transformation in your life so that you will begin to do works and deeds that are pleasing to God. God will mold and shape your character as you live to serve Him day by day.
