   What's a gathering like?

  • Our gatherings begin with about 20 minutes of worship music, led by a live band. The words of the songs will be displayed on large screens. People will sing along, and maybe raise their hands. You are welcome to as well! We want you to participate as you feel comfortable.

  • After worship music and before the message, there will be a time to meet those around you, as well as a time of offering if you want to partner with us in our ministries. We hope you feel welcomed and connected to our family with each and every worship service opportunity.

  • One of our pastors will teach a lesson from the Bible, the Word of God. Our goal is to help all attendees to understand the Bible and apply it to their lives. The teaching will be practical and challenging, and hopefully you will find it helpful in growing your personal relationship with God.

  • On occasion, one of our pastors may give an “altar call,” a time to come forward and make a decision to follow Jesus. During an altar call, you may be asked to walk up to our stage as a public declaration of your faith. Although this action often shows an outward sign of an inward change, coming forward is not necessary to make a life changing decision for Christ.
  • One of the things that our church is known for is our verse-by-verse teaching from the Bible. Our pastors have the gift of taking each verse and applying it to our daily lives and situations. You can click the link below to browse our sermon library and see for yourself.
  • Our goal is for everyone at Coastal to feel comfortable and confident in their ability to read and understand the Bible. If you don’t own a Bible, we’d love to give you one. Stop by our Connections Desk after any service or call our office at 609-399-4747 to receive a free copy of the Bible. You can also download the Coastal Christian app through the App Store or Google Play.
Yes, that's why all the people sitting around you have their phones out during the gathering.
They're not texting! Well, most of them aren't. :)

Why do I have to register my kids?

For you and your child’s safety, we have every parent and kid go through our check-in process. Not only does it help us to keep track of all the kids coming in and out of our buildings, it also helps you make sure you bring the right kid home :)

Can’t I just take my kids into the service with me?

At Coastal, our children’s ministry is more than just “child care.” We intentionally structure our children’s ministry to help children get to know God and learn the Bible and how it relates to Jesus in age-appropriate ways. The lessons are fun and approachable and taught by committed volunteers and staff who serve Jesus by serving you and your kids. Trust us, your kids will love it and learn a lot!

Other FAQ's

What should I wear?
Literally anything but your birthday suit :)

Who should I talk to?
Pretty much anyone, it’s church, right? But, if you’re looking for something more specific, like directions or more information, visit our Connections Desk.

Will I be put on the spot?
What do you think this is, Jeopardy?

Am I expected to give money?
Only if you want to end up on the “Nice” list…
Just kidding, no you are not expected to give any money. However, if you are led to partner with us in our ministries, giving is welcome, but not necessary.

What about communion?
Communion is something that followers of Jesus observe as a way to remember His sacrifice for us. It isn’t meant to be a time for a quick snack and some grape juice. ;)

If you have not made a decision to follow Christ, we ask that you do not take part in communion, since it is a sacred act. But, if you really are hungry, we have refreshments out in the lobby for you to enjoy.
