Forever Family

Read: 2 Corinthians 5:21, “He made Him Who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Morning, blessings all. Once again, my heart is full of thanks and praise for the mercy, grace and love that the Father has already lavished upon you and me.

This verse from 2 Corinthians was the “Verse of the Day” in the Bible reading plan that I follow from Gateway Bible. As I bathed in the redemptive glory of this verse, a thought crept into my mind: “I wonder how many times the word ‘righteousness’ occurs in scripture?”

The word “righteousness”

So, I looked it up, and behold, this word occurs a total of 299 times - 212 in the Old Testament, and 87 in the New Testament.

Another scripture was suggested to be read today, and that was Psalm 103:17-18: “But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children, with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts.”

I suppose with “righteousness” occurring so many times in the Bible, it was highly likely that the two verses I read would contain this same word. But here’s what I want us to rejoice in.

We are forever family through His righteousness

This everlasting mercy or “loving-kindness” has brought to all - including you, me, our children and grandchildren - the eternal possibility of our “right standing” before God through our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ.

I want us to think about this “right-standing” as often as possible. He has made us His own, and He is ours.

Rejoice O child of God, the Son of God has made us forever family!

Blessings and prayers,
Pastor Gene

Thank you Pastor Gene for sharing your wisdom in your words. How MIGHTY is GOD'S LOVE & MERCY that it started from eternity, everlasting and it continues onto eternity, everlasting. Amazing, GOD'S love didn't start with a beginning or an ending, it's been and always will be everlasting. I am in awe of HIS faithfulness! Thank you for taking me into Psalm 103 & teaching me!

GOD Bless you!
